MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I believe all student should enter a safe and caring environment each and everyday. As an educator, I will strive to build a classroom on a foundation of respect, community, and dignity where students can make gains academically, emotionally, and socially. Students can expect to enter an encouraging, consistent, and safe environment each time they walk through the doors where students and I will grow right alongside each other through less teacher-centered learning and more hands-on, interactive student inquiry through an engaging curriculum that welcomes even the most challenging of content standards. As an educator, I will teach my students to embrace mistakes, for deeper understanding of the process, more meaningful discovery, and even the best of inventions result from mistakes. In addition, I will make my best efforts to teach to each students' strengths through differentiation, choice, and learning preferences. Furthermore, I will teach to the whole student through modeling and teachable moments as well as a challenging, real-world relevant curriculum. I expect myself to have students exit my classroom each day feeling better and more capable than they did when they entered. Each day my motto as an educator will be to empower students by feeding their curiosities, dreams, and goals.
